campaign for community
by the people, for the people. i believe that leadership in government should be defined and guided by public service. for that reason (and a few others), i’m not accepting donations to my campaign. instead, i’m hoping to drive dollars, support, direct action, and to amplify the missions of organizations that are fighting for DC residents.
join me for two days of public service in partnership with Bread for the City, a local nonprofit providing a tremendous amount of support to people in need. we’ll be delivering groceries and diapers to our DC neighbors who need a little extra love right now. if you can’t make it to the party, that’s ok! feel free to donate, learn more, and amplify the Bread for the City mission to friends and family. now is the time. yours in community,
Amir

Bread for the City is a direct service nonprofit agency in Washington, DC providing wrap-around social services, including case work, food, clothing, legal advice and representation, and medical care. We serve more than 32,000 DC residents each year and operate the largest food pantry in the city.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we've seen upwards of a 400% increase in need for our services. We went from providing 5,000 households each month with groceries to 1,000 per day. Our diaper pantry has also experienced a great increase in need, as a family tends to spend about $70-$80 a month on diapers for the youngest in their households. With skyrocketing unemployment across our region, many are making a decision to go without food, making rent, or having fresh diapers for their children. It's a decision we want to eradicate by delivering groceries and diapers to those in need.
The grocery plus program, which runs out of our Southeast Center in collaboration with the Capital Area Food Bank, reaches about 60 senior households each month. Both these neighbors and those who need diapers will greatly benefit from your service delivering these much needed items directly to their homes. For all those who will benefit from your generosity, we thank you.
