my vision as your congressman

• As your representative in Congress, I will bring a decisively new and innovative approach to the office of the Delegate to the House of Representatives and redefine the relationship between Congress and the residents of the District of Columbia.

• I believe that our future as a city (and eventually a state) will be determined by our ability to look inwards and find community-driven solutions to the issues that affect our growing, diverse and ever-changing population.

• Traditionally, our congressional leadership has failed to reach out and engage the broader DC community in-depth, instead preferring to focus on the (few) national issues that they can sway, like DC Statehood.

• In 2020 and beyond, the old strategy simply will not suffice. We are in desperate need of leadership that will be more energetic, more enthusiastic, more in touch with the DC population as a whole, more willing to listen to community leaders, and more willing and prepared to get their hands dirty and put their boots on the ground in communities that need support the most. If we wait two more years, it may be too late. NOW IS THE TIME.
